Settings
You reach Settings via the menu. There are five areas:
- App Design: Switch between light, dark, and system – with “System”, the app follows your device's setting.
- My Profile: shows your own player profile (set up in the first-launch setup wizard) and lets you use “Change” to set any other existing or newly created profile as “you” at any time — this drives the “(Me)” label throughout the app, as well as which personal statistics are shown by default.
- Groups feature: A switch turns play groups in the app on or off (off by default). Turning it off deletes all groups after a confirmation prompt (affected games are kept, but lose their group assignment); turning it on takes effect immediately, without confirmation.
- Data Management: Access to export and import (see below).
- More menu items (via the three-dot menu top right): the Activity Log (every notable change, such as games/players/groups created, edited, or deleted, filterable), the Network Activity Log (every Scryfall card lookup the app makes, for troubleshooting), and the Offline Card Cache (how many cards are currently cached for offline use, with an option to clear the cache).
There's no in-app language switch – Magic Stats follows your device's system language.
Export & Import
You reach export and import via Settings → Data Management, each its own dialog. The format is a single JSON file with all of the app’s data — every group, player, and game (including the cards played in each) — not limited to a single group.
Export
The export starts automatically as soon as you open the dialog. Using your device's save dialog, you choose a location; a filename with a timestamp is suggested automatically (e.g. magicstats_export_...json).
Import
On import, you pick a previously exported JSON file via your device’s file picker. The import is purely additive and safe: entries that already exist by their ID are skipped — nothing is overwritten or duplicated. When it’s done, the app shows you how many entries per category (groups, players, games) were newly imported vs. skipped because they already existed.
Since there's no cloud sync, export/import is the only way to transfer data between two devices or keep your own backup.
