Dashboard

Dashboard

The central starting point of the app: your statistics, with quick links to Challenges and Group statistics.

Magic Stats needs no account and no internet connection — you can start right after installing it. On the very first launch, a short setup wizard walks you through two steps the app requires: first, you create your own player profile (or pick an existing one, e.g. if you're restoring a backup) — that's the one-time basis for “(Me)” labels and your personal statistics throughout the app, so you never have to state it again for each game. After that, the app briefly shows you how to mark cards as a favorite, with the option to add a first one right away.

As long as no game exists yet, the Dashboard then shows a welcome card with the "Create game" and "Start live tracker" buttons. As soon as at least one game exists, the Dashboard shows your statistics right away, with two quick links above them: "Challenges" and – if the Groups feature is enabled – "Group statistics". The top bar holds Card Search, the statistics filter, and an indicator whenever games without an entered result or live games not yet entered are still open.

Recording Your First Game

You don't need to painstakingly prepare players or cards first — when recording a game you can create a missing player right along the way, and you pick cards while creating the game anyway. Everything lives on a single page that you can fill in in any order:

Game mode

Tap "Create game" at the bottom right of the Dashboard and pick the mode at the top as a tappable card: "Commander" (free-for-all, everyone for themselves) or "Commander Teams" (players in at least two teams). Your own profile is already preselected as the first participant. If you switch the mode after entering participants, the app asks first, because the lineup is discarded.

Participants, cards & turn order

For each participant (with a team number, for Commander Teams) you pick a card — from your favorites, from the list of cards already played, or, if it's new, via Scryfall search. A player can optionally be linked to it, from your existing list or newly created. Dragging reorders the participants into the order they took their turn (whoever is on top started) — if you don't remember the order, mark it as “unknown” instead.

Group & notes

If the Groups feature is enabled, you can optionally assign the game to a play group here and add notes, before saving.

Entering the result

After saving, the app asks how you want to continue: start the live tracker for the game, enter the result right away, or later. If you're going to track the game live anyway, use "Save & start live tracker" straight away. You can always add the result later from the game's detail view. For each participant, you record independently: whether they won (in team games, the whole team wins together) and optionally how (combat damage, commander damage, an alternative win condition, opponents conceding, or other), whether and in which round they were eliminated and by whom/what, and their life total at the end of the game.

A game needs at least two participants, and every participant needs a card, before you can save it. A linked player is never required, though — participants without their own profile work exactly the same, just without personal statistics for that person.
